The Deylen Team
Deylen takes a different approach. We love the character of urban landscapes and authentic communities. Whether we’re adding a building, renovating a local treasure, or creating respectful infill projects, our goal is to reflect and enhance everything that’s wonderful about neighborhood living. Our designs are contextual and created with sustainability and walkability in mind to benefit our residents and the surrounding community.
We carefully curate retail business to support a vibrant streetscape and draw businesses that serve residents’ needs while complementing the neighborhood’s character. The integrity of our buildings is as important to us as it to our tenants. We intend to be part of the neighborhood for years to come. That’s also reflected in our approach to managing our projects.
CRAIG VON DEYLEN: President & Principal
“Home is the totality of the community within the few blocks: the people, the places, and the built environment.”
A licensed architect and developer, Craig brings more than a quarter-century of professional practice to each of our properties. His innovative and thoughtful approaches to new spaces and adaptive reuse have earned a slew of awards and attention in national publications. Craig takes particular pride in collaborating with neighborhood stakeholders, getting to know the people who call buildings home, and in using a single project has an engine for community-wide enhancement. He believes that walkability, nearby amenities, and community involvement are the three critical elements of success. His penchant for timeless design is evident in his love of classic vehicles and vintage stereo equipment.
SHELLEY VEAZIE: DIRECTOR OF MARKETING
“We are creating neighborhoods, not developments.”
Nearly a decade ago, Shelley was one of the earliest young professionals to sense the potential of the neighborhoods ringing the Circle City’s core. The Purdue-educated designer and photographer soon brought her many years of experience as a marketing director in multiple industries to our team. Starting with the Bureau and Slate, Shelley helped us share our vision with the people and businesses that now call our projects home. Today, she steers prospective residents through apartments with the contagious enthusiasm and keeps up with all our marketing needs as we grow. Shelley works hard to individually seek out solutions for residents in need of a place to call home. Family, friends, canines, and travel occupy her free time. Give the girl a camera and watch out, she uses her surroundings daily to promote the neighborhoods, but also finds behind the lens to be some of her favorite times.
NICK DUGAN, Corporate Counsel
“Reputation is everything.”
Developing and managing real estate is a labor of love for our team, but it also includes complications and complexities. As our chief legal mind, Nick spends his working hours protecting Deylen and our projects by reviewing contracts, conducting negotiations, and drafting documents. His approach to the law is much like our approach to communities, combining great skill, vision, integrity, and profound respect for other people. After all, he firmly believes that people are what makes a place feel like home. When Nick isn’t reading contracts, he’s often immersed in great American literature, trying to persuade trophy fish that his lures are irresistible, or on the track for motorsports.
TODD VON DEYLEN: Vice President & Principal
“Success comes from being a good steward to your properties and treating your tenants the way you would want to be treated.”
A licensed real estate broker, contractor and property manager, Todd is responsible for the management and leasing of all of our properties, and was the force behind the creation of The Bureau, Indy’s groundbreaking coworking space. His hands-on, rapid-response approach to residents and commercial tenants sets the tone for Delyen’s service standards and philosophy, and his thoughtful focus on the value of real communities has built bridges everywhere we’ve built projects. Todd earned his degree in Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management from Ball State University. And when he isn’t figuring out how to solve a problem, you’ll find him tinkering with technology or out on the firing range, sharpening his aim.
Megan DiVello: Assistant Property Manager
“You have to be present and engaging.”
Megan knows that people spend most of our time at home, and as a successful real estate broker, she’s enjoyed helping people find their way to the perfect place. Now she’s helping us make our properties perfect for our residents, who will tell you that they’re accustomed to seeing her smiling face every day as she double-checks every detail. Megan appreciates the opportunity to play a key role in helping Deylen bring positive change to downtown communities, not just in our expressive buildings, but through the many community and charitable organizations our team supports. The combination of history, culture, and action draws this coffee-obsessed mom of two into our communities.
VINCE DELLOLIO, Director of Maintenance
“I’m happiest when people feel like they’re at home.”
Many people promise service, but Vinny’s life is truly centered upon serving others. He finds great joy in his youth ministry work, and brings that same attitude to meeting the needs of those who call our properties home. When Vinny tells you that our residents are his first priority, it’s not an empty slogan. He doesn’t think twice about challenging requests, because he sees fulfilling them as a mission. Take the time a resident entrusted him to hang treasured family heirlooms in her new apartment. Vinny treated them as those they were his own family’s. You’ll always see him with a big smile, and when he’s not around, he’s probably exploring nature.
LYNN HARDMAN: Controller
“We share a common goal of excellence, doing what we do and doing it well.”
Lynn has a knack for putting everyone in a good mood, which comes in handy as she manages the business side of our operations. Our staff, residents, and commercial tenants quickly learn that they can count on her for a kind word, mindful listening, and a comment that invariably leaves them in a better mood. Lynn appreciates the emphasis Deylen places on communities, because taking care of people is important to her. While she’s a whiz with our books, her real avocation is cooking and nutrition, and she spends many of her weekends keeping the Marching Pride of Lawrence Township and Lawrence Township Winter Percussion well-fed and sufficiently hydrated for the rigors of competition.
